Things to Keep in the Car

I’m aware that lately my postings have been anything I’ve found interesting or disturbing enough to share without actually being my own creations, but it turns out sometimes between working and being a dad I do have time to write something. You’ll never know what situation could come up so it’s important to be prepared for the worst so I present:

Juz’s List of Things to Keep in the Car

1. Spare wheel - So many people I know don’t carry a spare. It doesn’t make sense because this is one of the most common causes of a disabled car, and you’ll be face palming thinking about it sitting in the garage because you never bothered to put it back in after your stereo install.

2. Fire Extinguisher and First Aid kit - I put the two of these together because they’re just as important as each other. Hypocritically enough I haven’t actually gotten around to buying them yet, but it is on the shortlist of upcoming car purchases. Won’t my face be red when my car’s a smouldering wreck burned to the ground?!

3. Disposable Camera - That granny in the gold Camry can do a lot of damage and it’s important to have a camera in case insurance gets involved… or in case of burnouts, whatever - unless of coarse your camera phone is half decent, then this is redundant.

The Ultimate Speed Bump

While this can hardly be considered a “bump”, this certainly takes the cake  for anything even remotely related in the interest of slowing the motorist down. Just check out this photo:

Now you’d think something crazy like that could only be found in China, well that’s a partial truth because here in Australia (especially Whittlesea before their new thing was replacing round abouts with traffic lights) we have to deal with similar obstacles (though with a lot less risk because they’re not as tall). Why you may ask? Possibly to prevent incidents like this from happening:

Anyhow read more about it here.

Carbon Fibre Baby Seat

It’s a good thing this is just a prototype at the moment, or the urge to waste money on useless cool stuff would be hard to resist. The “Wing Man” as Rory Craig (the designer of the seat) calls it is going to be pitched to the famous racing seat company Sparco. Here’s hoping it get’s approval and makes it into production.

Read more about it over at Carbon Fibre Gear.

Irony

This is the true definition of irony:

I feel sorry for them, but remember they were just asking for it.

Precious Metals and Cars

Ah, ultra shiny cars. Something which never gets old. That’s why it’s a good thing that Global Motors brings us four great examples below:

(Here’s the links: Chrome SLR McLaren, Nissan GT-R in matte gold, Chrome Lambo LP640 and a Gold Plated 911).

Opulent Automotive Options

Car and Driver has created a list of the top 10 craziest car options. We’re not talking about the usual options like bluetooth or a disc stacker though. No, surely such “options” would be standard on cars like these. So what do they offer the person who has everything on their car? One of my favorites:

You might think that $12,100 for 1600 tiny lights in the headliner (a mere $7.56 per light) is over the top; but how would you know? We certainly can’t afford a Rolls-Royce Phantom, but if we could, this dramatic—and pointless—option’s box would be the first one we’d tick.

You can read the full list here. Most worth more than my entire car :(
