Definitely worth a watch

Whew, that’s a long title. This tutorial is going to show you how to change the transmission fluid and filter on a VS, VT, VX and VY Commodore which has the 4L60E automatic gearbox. It could potentially be similar for different cars within the GM family which feature the same 4L60E gearbox but since I can’t guarantee that I’ll just say it’s for the Commodore. Please note some things may be different for the VT and newer as my car is a VS, so please keep that in mind.

First up I’ll list the things required:

Good news in the face of rising fuel prices, Holden has announced that from 2009 the V8 model Commodores will feature Active Fuel Management, basically meaning when not under heavy load, the car will run on 4 cylinders instead of all 8. Obviously this isn’t new technology (even to GM), but it’s good to see we’re finally getting it.

This is a tutorial I typed up for those people who would rather have the look of the (slightly) more modern VH Commodore for their car instead of that of the VB/VC Commodore. It’s a fairly easy process, it’s just time consuming to complete (but definately worth it to gain the VH’s longer and lower appearence).

Well here’s something I didn’t see coming but does make sense in a way - Another HSV wagon! From the front the tourer shares the same styling as the sedan, but turning the car around reveals a disappointing fact in that it’s indistinguishable from a Holden Sportwagon SS save for a couple of badges. Thankfully I’m as much for subtlety as against it, here’s hoping if they’re mad enough to squeeze an LS7 into the thing they’ll do something to differentiate it from a Holden.

GM has finally unveiled the 2010 Chevvy Camaro, exciting for us in Australialand as it’s likely to be sold here by Holdens as the Chevrolet Camaro (although I wouldn’t complain if its underpinnings become a new Holden Monaro). Heaps of photos and press-release after you hit the link.
