Onion Writer Offers Joke on Ebay

Ahh, what can’t we find on eBay? There’s no pictures so I just have to quote the listing:

My name is John Harris, and I am a staff writer at The Onion, America’s Finest News Source. I am selling a joke that I can’t find a contextual home for. To be fair, it’s less of a joke and more of a dated, Capote-esque cocktail party bon mot, but decidedly more feeble. The best one can reasonably expect from this item is a self-satisfied chuckle, such as can be observed issuing from someone wearing a turtleneck while reading the Harper’s Index. If that didn’t make you barf, please continue reading.

You can check out the listing here, it’s pretty funny (the questions are too).

Good Idea, Wrong Market - Tiddy Bear

No, it’s not New Zealands take on the Teddy Bear, it actually is supposed to be Tiddy Bear. This bear has to be the best example of a clever product idea targetting the wrong primary audience ever. Have a look:

You need to a flashplayer enabled browser to view this YouTube video

I just can’t comprehend what went down in the marketing department, let alone any department responsible for Tiddy considering it’s just a shoulder pad shaped like a teddy bear. At least the infomercial did feature children looking disinterested and attempting to get the damned thing off enjoying the bear, which probably should have been who they were trying to sell the thing to.

Stylish Computer Speakers

I’m a big fan of cool and interesting technology designs (like the Das Keyboard or USB Webmail Notifier), so naturally I was excited to see walyou has put together a list of 16 cool computer speakers. There has always been interesting speaker which may look good but not necessarily sound good, the list is probably full of them (with the exception of number two, the Ferrari speakers). One of my favorites:

Imagine the iPod Earbuds but 500 times the regular size. That is what UberReview presented with these computer speakers.

They look hilarious. Click here to see the list!

Bored? Some things to entertain (part 1)

Posted: December 2nd, 2006 (9:58pm) by Juzza

If you’re ever bored here’s a few fun things you can do to quickly pass the time until the next boring thing has to be done.

1. Go through your music collection (preferably digital - makes it easier) and also open a browser window.. try looking up Music Videos for some of your favorite singles/VA compilations on YouTube or Google Videos.. you’d be surprised how many there actually are, and you get to see the videos to help you realize you don’t like the songs anymore ^_^

2. Keep clicking here: Wikipedia or Uncyclopedia to get random entries , educational and amusing :D

3. Come and post in the DARKCOLD Forums or submit some content to DARKCOLD

More to come in the future!

Top 50 Dystopian Movies of all Time

Quite a grim and disturbing list of movies, though I find this sort of thing absolutely fascinating (the idea that there can be societies far worse than that we live). There’s some great movies listed with a lot I’m still yet to see, definately a good read over at Snarkerati.

George Miller’s vision of an apocalyptic future set in the wastelands of Australia. Total social decay is just around the corner in this spectacular cheap budget gang orientated road movie. Where the cops do their best to lay down the law and the outlaw gangs try their hardest to defy the system. Leather clad Max Rockatansky (Mel Gibson) husband, father and cop turns judge, juror and executioner after his best friend, wife and baby are killed. Here we see the final days of normality of a man who had everything to live for, and his slip into the abyss of madness. With its astounding car stunts, unbelievable bike chases and constant ultra violence Mad Max is the antihero on the road to vengeance and oblivion. (Directed by George Miller).

Definately some movies to grab the next time the video shop is visited.
