Egg in the Basket

I just made a few of these for breakfast, they’re actually as delicious as they look. My method probably isn’t right but all I had to go by was the information on the wikipedia page (and like I could be bothered typing in a few words in Google to get a decent recipe). This picture isn’t mine, I didn’t take a picture of mine because I ate them.

My method: I greased up the frying pan with butter, used a drinking glass to make a nice perfect circle in the breads, threw the breads in the frying pan then cracked the eggs inside the breads. I then put a lid on the frying pan so the eggs cooked through nicely then I flipped, threw some processed cheese slices on the top to melt and viola! Breakfast.

7 Food Untruths

Cracked certainly does go straight to the point - take the title of this article for example - “7 Retarded Food Myths the Internet Thinks Are True”. It’s an interesting read though gladly I’ve never been forwarded any of them via email,  I’d heard of some though, like the soft drink one:

You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of Coke and it will be gone in two days. The active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid. Its pH is 2.8. It will dissolve a nail in about 4 days. Phosphoric acid also leaches calcium from bones and is a major contributor to the rising increase in osteoporosis. To carry Coca-Cola syrup (the concentrate) the commercial truck must use the Hazardous material place cards reserved for Highly corrosive materials.

Obviously a lie, though who would believe anything they receive in email? Read the list here.

Top Ten Gaming Cliches

I just had to laugh at this list put together by Zeromage at Old Wizard, it’s entirely true. Check out number 2:

2. Food that completely fills your energyPicture this; you’re about to die and are gasping for your final breath. You’re rushed to the emergency room, and what does the doctor give you? A roasted chicken. You eat the chicken and walk out as if nothing happened. Could you imagine what would happen in the real world if all your physical and mental ailments could be solved by a piece of chicken? What would happen to modern medicine? All modern doctors would have to become nutritionists, or at least know how to use an oven. From Gauntlet to Castlevania, the most inane pieces of food are able to make you feel better. There’s gushing blood coming out of your arm from being attacked by a warrior or a skeleton, and somehow a piece of chicken heals it. Are we just supposed to assume they used the roasted chicken as a bandage?

Give the full list a read via Old Wizard.

Interview with someone who ate a 20 pound (9KG+) hamburger

I’ve seen lots of pictures of gigantic hamburgers in my time, but hardly any additional information. What luck that Ryan from Mouthpiece Sports Blog had the chance to interview somebody who managed to eat a 9KG hamburger.

…I cut pieces off of it. I started with taking the top bun off and ate the toppings off the bun, so that I could use it to dip the meat if I felt like it. Then, I started to cut wedges off of the patty and I’d eat them — that included the cheese of course. And after I got done with that, I moved on to the debris of the patty as well as the onions and lettuce and all that stuff on the bottom of the bun…

Makes me feel sick just reading about it. Clicky to check it out.

Peeling a Potato - The Japanese Way

You want to know something? The Japanese are very efficient, even when it comes to peeling a potato. This video is proof (they’re speaking Japanese, but not to worry because you get the idea by seeing):

You need to a flashplayer enabled browser to view this YouTube video

Believe it or not I have actually tried this, and it works!

Look-Good, Feel-Better Foods

Men’s Fitness has created an interesting list explaining what types of food are good/bad, and why. A lot of this I wasn’t aware of so the article has definately changes my eating habits a little - maybe yours too if you care about what you eat.

MAINTAIN ENERGY ALL DAY, EVERY DAY
The goal: Eat smaller meals throughout the day instead of three big ones.

The challenge: Throwing down a large, high-calorie meal raises your glucose levels drastically, causing an increase of free radicals in the bloodstream that can last up to three or four hours. “For your body, this means an inflammatory burst that can affect your serum levels and increase your risk of developing heart disease, among other health problems,” says Perricone.

Obviously not what they mean but still the best picture I could find of a small meal.

A good read over at Men’s Fitness.

EDIT: And check out their Ultimate Sandwich Solution - also interesting.
