Terminator Salvation Concept Art

I don’t know if these are real or not, but mirrored in the gallery under “Continue Reading” at the bottom of this post are some concept artwork from the upcoming Terminator sequal, Salvation. Just from those I’m getting excited looking forward to seeing this movie. Pictured below is the T600, probably the beta version of the T800 played by Arnold Schwarzenegger.

You can read the original article here for more information about the images. The images came from a rather unusual place. They appear on the website http://t1000salvation.com/ in full resolution in a subfolder of a folder named sony, I did a bit of research to find the domain belongs to a Michel Valenzuela (whoever that is), but the artwork is truly stunning, especially the motorcycle designed by Victor James Martinez,

Computer User Interfaces in the Movies

Posted: December 26th, 2006 (5:01pm) by Juzza

Quite a hilarious and true observation about the state of portrayals of computer UI’s in the movies.

5. Access Denied / Access Granted
Countless scenes involve unauthorized access to some system. Invariably, several passwords are tried, resulting in a giant “Access Denied” dialog box. Finally, a few seconds before disaster strikes, the hero enters the correct password and is greeted by an equally huge “Access Granted” dialog box.

A better user interface would proceed directly to the application’s home screen as soon as the user has correctly logged in. After all, you design for authorized users. There’s no reason to delay them with a special confirmation that yes, they did indeed enter their own passwords correctly.

Although intended as a serious article I can see where the authors coming from and find the humor in it, as it’s all true. You can read the list by clicking here.

Movie Near Misses

It’s because movies like these were never made that we don’t have to be as scared to go to the video shop anymore. Cracked put together a fun list of six movies that were thankfully never made, from a movie starring Arnold Schwarzenegger as a robot cowboy to Steven Seagal as Ghengis Khan (actually that would be pretty entertaining, but for all the wrong reasons. Under Siege still rocks though).

I wouldn’t mind seeing the original Westworld which I’ve read is what The Simpsons episode “Itchy & Scratchy Land” is based on. Check out the list here.

YOU Can Stop Uwe Boll

Please sign this petition for a worthy cause, to save the memory of video games from being destroyed by horrible movie renditions. I quote from If It’s Movies:

Uwe Boll, one of the worst filmmakers in the world, has given the world an opportunity of a lifetime. Boll said he would retire from making movies if enough people signed this petition asking that he stop. So far, there are 18,000 signatures on the petition, and this is what Boll had to say in response:

“18,000 is not enough to convince me.” “One million. Now we have a new goal.”

I signed it, it’s interesting to refresh the list of signatures, at this rate it seems to be about one signature every three four seconds.. but a million? Click here to sign.
