Scary National Anthems
I’d honestly never heard any of these before, but I do have to say I’m impressed concerned by how violent some of them can be. Take for intstance the following, from the Algerian anthem:
We swear by the lightning that destroys, By the streams of generous blood being shed
When we spoke, none listened to us, So we have taken the noise of gunpowder as our rhythm, And the sound of machine guns as our melody
Hmm.. They take their wars very seriously. Maybe Vietnam’s is a bit more friendly. Let’s see…
Our flag, red with the blood of victory, bears the spirit of the country.
Uhh.. I think I might just reconsider international travel for the rest of my life now. Oh, these and a few others (with hilarious commentary) can be read over at cracked.
