PSN DRM Destroyed for PSP
Well isn’t that something interesting and refreshing to wake up to - The DRM encyrption on the PSN released PSP games has been crushed. With the release of this tool (NPDecryptor) people who have purchased the software and are able to play it on the PSP running the application have the ability to remove the DRM, allowing the software to work on any PSP. Currently this only works on original PSP titles, not on the PSone games which are also available.
Some will say it’s a huge win for piracy on the PSP, while others are saying it’s going to prevent people from developing for the platform now. I say if the product’s good enough it should be able to sell even in the face of piracy. I guess the only legit use this could have is for people who own like 10 PSPs, which I’m sure if they did the licence on the software wouldn’t allow it to be installed on that many at once anyway.
You can download the program from DARKCOLD here, and read the uproar in the MaxConsole Forums here.
